Dorje Drollo

Dorje Drollo is a wrathful manifestation of Guru Padmasambhava and is especially revered in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism for his fierce compassion and transformative power. He appeared in this form at thirteen sacred sites known as the Tigers Lair, where he subdued hostile spirits and redirected their energies toward the protection of the Dharma. Dorje Drollo is depicted riding a pregnant tigress, which symbolizes the raw, untamed power of nature and the latent potential of enlightened awareness. His wild hair, flaming aura, and wrathful expression reflect the intensity of his wisdom that transcends conventional logic and pierces through spiritual obstacles. He holds a vajra in one hand and a ritual dagger called a kila in the other, which represent his ability to cut through ignorance and bind harmful forces.
