Preface
Although obscure to many devotees today, Prkta-rasa ata-duani was well known amongst the Gauya Vaiava community during the time of rila Bhaktisiddhnta Sarasvat Gosvami Prabhupda. It was relished by the rpanuga Vaiavas and despised by the Sahajiya communities for its condemnations of their mundane practices committed in the name of suddha-bhakti (pure devotion).
Prkta-rasa Sata-dani was first written in 1917 by rla Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati and published in the Sajjana-toani magazine (9th edition, 19th Volume). During his lifetime it was republished in the Gaudiya magazine and in the book Vraja-mandala Parikram (1935).
We now live in a time when Sahajiyaism is no longer confined to Bengal, Orissa and Vndvana. The pollution of prakrta rasa has now crossed the borders of India and found its way to foreign lands. Thus, Prkta-rasa ata-da is as relevant now as it ever was, if not more so.
As in the time of rla Bhaktisiddhnta, the true followers of ri Rpa Gosvmi will appreciate the cautionary advice given in this book. Similarly, they will also value the contribution of Srila Bhakti Gaurava Narasingha Mahrja in the form of his Anuvytti commentary.
Introduction
The holiest abode on the earth is ri Vrndavana-dhma and the most sacred temple in Vrndavana is the Sri Sri Rdh Damodara Mandira. Crores of devotees visit the Radha Dmodara temple every year to have a darana of Radha and Krsna’s transcendentally beautiful forms such a darsana charms the heart and gives one the perfection of life.
Throughout the centuries many saints have resided at the Rdh-Damodara temple, most notably ri Rpa Gosvmi, Sri Jiva Gosvami and Srila A.C. Bhaktivednta Svmi Prabhupda.
The purpose of this small book is to place before the devotees and pilgrims some of the histories of Sri Sri Rdha-Dmodara and Their illustrious devotees. The book contains histories with reference to very old documents and verses, along with recollections, letters and interviews.
We pray at the lotus feet of Sri Sri Rdh-Dmodara, r Rpa Gosvami, ri Jiva Gosvami, rila A.C. Bhaktivednta Svami Prabhupada and all the assembled Vaisnavas to kindly bestow their mercy upon us and to accept our humble service offering. Jayate Sri Sri Radha-Damodara Jeu!
